This
newest addition to Ladysmith has proven to be an attraction
for locals, out-of-towner, and a favorable outlet for the youth.
A substantial and economical alternative to the Nanaimo and
Duncan theaters, Island Cinema Ladysmith offers the same quality
and comfort with the added personal service (with a smile).
The cinema is locally owned and operated by Rahim and Salima
Manji who originated from the east coast and more recently from
Qualicum Beach.
Theater
amenities include a full concession stand and an arcade room.
The 85 seat cinema feature air conditioning, dolby surround
sound, stadium style seating with offset seats. The theater
is always available for birthday parties, meetings and community
gatherings for a fraction of the cost of other venues. The newly
installed digital projector is the perfect tool for Power Point
presentations, viewing of home movies, and playing interactive
video games.
Island
Cinema Ladysmith shows new release movies that play every day
for a week (1-4 shows daily) and change every Friday. Before
each show, on-screen advertising features local businesses and
community events. Admission rates stay a constant $5 and $7
and concession stand combos start at $5 for a popcorn, 16oz
drink and a regular size candy bar.
The
cinema is located in downtown Ladysmith in the back of the library
building (740 1st Ave). Please call 245-4225 for show times,
details on advertising opportunities, and theater rental availability.
