What a Wonderful Way to Spend our Sunday by the Wandering Wine Wayfarers.
Recently, we were picked up at Art of Brewing and Wine Making in South Wellington by Randy’s Nanaimo Shuttle Service. We had a fabulous day touring and tasting at several wineries in the Cowichan Valley.
The fruit wines and hospitality at Silverside were charming, the side trip to Organic Fair left us with a bounty of specialty chocolate, and lunch in the great outdoors of Glenterra was delightful
Then it was on to tramp the vineyard at Venturi-Schulze, learn about their growing techniques and sip some wines – Marilyn was generous with stories and product. By the time we reached Godfrey-Brownell we were happy to relax with tastings of their wines under a canopy of boughs.
We loved the bus with its height, seat belts, air conditioning, large windows, and view on the world – we saw things we don’t usually notice as we zipped along the highway. Everyone was ready for snacks and cold drinks when we returned to the lovely acreage in South Wellington; we appreciated the hospitality Art and Maureen offered. It had been a long day and we were glad that we had a safe ride home to our doors.
We understand that there are several more Sunday Winery Tours planned in the next month or two. One of them even includes beer! Check them out at www.artobbrewing.com If you can, hop on – you’ll be glad you did! Call Randy at 250 619 9297 or Art at 250 754 5051.
