Outrageous Evening of Fun!

The April 2011 Outrageous Event proved to be a popular evening and a huge success with attendance by 200 people from Ladysmith and surrounding areas, filling the old Aggie hall full to the brim with an anticipating audience and Lip Sync participants.

The evening opened with a special guest appearance by Miss Vikki Smudge. Her live performances and antics entertained the audience and set the tone for an evening of fun. Vikki Smudge; what can we say but Bravo! Following the opening act were nine lip sync groups who lit up the stage, each one adding their own special flare to the evening.

Throughout the evening were fun and games, a Lip Print contest and Toonie Toss games. There was opportunity to bid on the silent auction items and chances to win a variety of door prizes that were donated by local businesses and community members.

A good time was had by all due to the members and volunteers who helped make the evening such a success.

LDBA President, Jenna Forster gives “A huge Thank You to all the volunteers that came together and put on a fantastic evening.  This night wouldn’t have happened without their efforts. It was very moving to see our community come together and have a little fun.  For me, it was a clear representation of how engaged members of our community are.  People have a lot of choices as to where they want to live; nights like this are another reminder of why we love living in Ladysmith.”

LDBA Vice-President, Lesley Parent, noted that the event raised over $6,000. Funds raised from this event are put back into the community supporting local businesses, organizations, events and other community initiatives. The Kinsmen Club raised roughly $1000 for Brown Drive Park. The first stage is complete and children in the community are enjoying the new play area.

“It was an evening of fun, no business, no formalities, just pure fun. It’s important that the community see the business owners as regular people, your neighbours. As a LDBA member, I know that the business people of Ladysmith believe in this community and work hard to support it. All funds raised by this event go right back into the community.” LDBA director, Tracey De Frane states.

No dates have been made for 2012 but due to the growing popularity of this community event, we are sure to see another Outrageous Event next year.

A special thank you goes to all those who supported this event by your attendance.

Outrageous Evening 2010

Saturday May 1, 2010 the Ladysmith Downtown Business Association hosted yet another successful and Outrageous event.  If you didn’t attend then you missed out on one of Ladysmith’s most exciting events at the Aggie Hall this year.

People laughed, played fun games, bid on great auction items, danced and had loads of fun.  Four lip sync groups entertained the audience with their unique talents and energy.  A song by the Black Eyed Peas “I Gotta Feeling”…. lip sung by LDBA President, John Surtees and his crew,  got the audience moving and grooving setting the tone for the evening but it was the “Hot Flashes” that stole the show, winning the competition for best lip sync group by a whopping half a point.

Not only did the LDBA have a night of FUNraising but also fundraising, raising funds for Celebrations (Ladysmith Days) and LDBA events. The LDBA would like to thank all of you who participated in this fun event. It has been the talk of the town and still is the talk of the town and many are anticipating the next Outrageous Evening scheduled for April 1st, 2011.
