The LDBA and the Air Cadets hosted over 100 people at Aggie Hall to watch Canada vs. USA on the big screen in the OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL MEN’S HOCKEY GAME. The energy of the crowd was exuberant and the game itself was intense and exciting. Thank you to all the groups who hosted these games at Aggie hall for the community.
Community Spirit Continues at the Aggie Hall for the 2010 Winter Paralympics
The Ladysmith Spirit of BC Committee is once again excited to offer Ladysmith area residents a chance to gather at the Aggie Hall to watch an international multi-sport games event during the 2010 Winter Paralympics! Committee Chair Duck Paterson encourages everyone to bring friends, family, and neighbours down to the Aggie Hall to watch the fun on the giant 14-foot TV screen, recently installed with a state-of-the-art sound system funded jointly by LaFF Family Resource Program, the Town of Ladysmith, and generous contributions from community donors.
This opportunity to continue the community spirit shared by so many during the Olympics is not to be missed. “It’s amazing!” said Duck, “to imagine the barriers that these Paralympic athletes have had to overcome even to get to the starting line, then to be able to accomplish their athletic feats which are more than most of us could do even with our so-called able bodies!”
LaFF will be showing all broadcasted Paralympic events during their drop-in Monday to Friday, 9:30 am – noon, from March 15 – 19, and Spirit of BC Committee members will once again host the opening ceremonies starting on Friday, March 12, 6 pm, and as many events as possible throughout the games, ending with the closing ceremonies at 7:30 pm on Sunday, March 21. Highlights will include the Canadian men’s ice sledge hockey games, and possibly the wheelchair curling events.
