LDBA 2010 Review & 2011 Membership Renewal

In 2010, membership to the LDBA was the highest since the organization’s inception with 108! This is good news for Ladysmith’s economy and downtown core and great news to the 36,000 pairs of eyes who viewed this website during the year.
- 71 Full members (22% up on 2009 with 58)
- 19 Associate members (138% up on 2009)
- 16 Non-Profit members (60% up on 2009)
- 2 Private members

An increase in membership to the LDBA can provide many benefits:
- With strength in numbers, Ladysmith is portrayed in a better “business light” to visitors
- People can find information on businesses more easily
- The downtown core becomes more attractive to businesses as they see a strong organization who cares about them
- An increase in available funds, which allows for more marketing channels
- More knowledge and expertise to be shared with other members
- The mix of services from members becomes more varied and hence, more attractive
- An increased presence at LDBA events with potentially more volunteers to assist
Website Performance 2010
The website is maintained by a core group of volunteers who are able to keep the website updated using the easy-to-use Content Management System in place. In having more than one person available, more profiles, events and articles can be posted, thereby increasing the numbers of visitors. During 2010, the site showed significant performance numbers:
- 10,000 total visits (25% up on 2009 with 8,000)
- 7,300 unique visitors (32% up on 2009 with 5,500)
- Each visitor looked at 5 pages per visit (multiply that by 10,000 total visitors to get nearly 50,000 pages viewed) – GREAT NEWS FOR ADVERTISERS!
- Each visitor spent 2 minutes on the site
- Home page had 7,700 total pageviews
- Members page had 4,000 total pageviews
- Marketplace page had 1,000 total pageviews
- The member profiles were viewed over 18,000 times!
- The site had over 7,000 referrals from search engines (70% of traffic), 1,800 referrals from external websites, nearly 800 direct visits, and over 300 from the “automatic email feed” (sign up to the right to be on that)
- There were nearly 3,500 total keyword phrases used

For the cost of less than $10/month, why wouldn’t you join the LDBA? It would be “outrageous” not to.
