Maritime Festival 2010

The Ladysmith Downtown Business Association is having a great year of successful events. The weather was perfect for a Treasure Hunt downtown during the Ladysmith Marine Festival. Feedback from children and their families was great, they loved the treasure hunt and had  a lot of fun. Business owners were also very pleased with the amount of children who participated in the hunt.

The draw for the Treasure Hunt has been done and we do have a winner: K Root, from Ladysmith.

She has won a Harbour Tour for 4 and a basket full of fun gifts for a pirate.

The Ladysmith Maritime Festival for 2010 was a great success!

LDBA Seminar Series

One of the LDBA objectives is to offer its members’ resources in which they can access for minimal cost or no charge to assist with building better business and gaining business knowledge. One way this can be accomplished is through a series of free seminars offered to LDBA members and hosted by professionals who are also LDBA members.

Up-Coming Seminars,

HST Seminar a Success

On Wednesday May 19, the Ladysmith Royal Canadian Legion hall was filled with LDBA and Chamber members to listen to APL Chartered Accountants (APL) professionals discuss Harmonized Sale Tax (HST). Tammy Lesley, C.G.A., C.A. Professional and APL Accountants Partner, possessed a great deal of knowledge on the subject of TAX. If you came into that seminar confused about HST, you surely walked away with a better understanding of the new tax system.

Outrageous Evening 2010

Saturday May 1, 2010 the Ladysmith Downtown Business Association hosted yet another successful and Outrageous event.  If you didn’t attend then you missed out on one of Ladysmith’s most exciting events at the Aggie Hall this year.

People laughed, played fun games, bid on great auction items, danced and had loads of fun.  Four lip sync groups entertained the audience with their unique talents and energy.  A song by the Black Eyed Peas “I Gotta Feeling”…. lip sung by LDBA President, John Surtees and his crew,  got the audience moving and grooving setting the tone for the evening but it was the “Hot Flashes” that stole the show, winning the competition for best lip sync group by a whopping half a point.

Ladysmith Home & Business Show 2010

The Ladysmith Downtown Business Association was presented at one of 36 booths at this year’s Home Show at the Aggie Hall organized by the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce.  It was the second time that the LDBA has taken on such an event for its members.

The LDBA booth was decorated with the new back drop and provided information about the Association as well as its members. The display included the names of all paid up members, business cards from participating members, the new LDBA business brochure, membership forms, and the questionnaire.
