TAKE 5 Magazine

Each month as part of our 2009 membership package, several LDBA member businesses are profiled for free in the excellent TAKE 5 Magazine, which has a readership of over 38,000. In April’s edition, the following 6 businesses were profiled.

Bouma Meats

Bouma Meats has been servicing the town of Ladysmith since 1994 but the location has been a butcher shop for over 50 years. We try to buy as much local beef, pork, chicken, lamb and fish as we can as we believe in supporting the local economy on Vancouver Island.

We retain the “old fashioned” feel to the shop: we use sides of beef; all produce is under glass for you to browse; we cannry a wide range of products including:

  • Beef, pork, lamb, buffalo
  • Free-range chickens
  • Free-range turkeys
  • Fresh wild fish
  • Fresh seafood
  • Local meat pies, sausage rolls and pasties
  • Local cabbage rolls
  • Smoked hams and bacon
  • Homemade sausages: buffalo, turkey, sundried tomato, Italian, pork, pork & beef, Chorizo, maple, Boers and lamb

Jillian Dashwood, Island Homes Realty

Having worked as a realtor on Vancouver Island and in her 20th year, Jill is the RIGHT person to help you find your new ISLAND home.  Being an Islander all her life, Jill understands the benefits of Island living, as well as its challenges.

Helping people to find just the right accommodation, in the best area to suit their needs is what excites Jill!  She will make available mortgage brokers, building inspectors, carpenters, plumbers and electricians; landscapers and decorators too, as well as other sundry people ready to help at any time.
